To contribute towards the relief of the Saturday 25 April’s great-earthquake victims of Nepal, about 65 Nepalese artists, including painters and sculptors, held an emergency meeting on Saturday, 2nd May, at Nepal Art Council, Babarmahal to jumpstart a ‘hand-in-hand 2072’ campaign under the co-ordination of artists Shanta Kumar Rai, Sandhya Regmi, Ramesh Khanal, Sanjay Bantawa, Nabendra Limbu and Devendra Thumkeli.Under the campaign, on Sunday, 3rd May 2015, about 25 artists of the Nepal Fine Art Association, the Artists Society of Nepal and several other art Institutions and organizations donated blood at Nepal Red Cross Blood Bank, Bhrikutimandap.
Monday, 4th May 2015, the campaign will head towards Bhaktapur, visiting relatives of the deceased sculptors Suresh Pradhan and several other earthquake affected victims and their bereaved families to express condolence and provide immediate relief. Further, the artists’ campaign draws special attention of the Government of Nepal, UNESCO and the Civil Society, requesting for the safeguarding of the valuable monuments and artifacts of the earthquake-damaged temples, pagodas, monuments of our ancient and precious cultural world-heritage sites of Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur.
