Jaleshwari Shrestha is one of the most famous story-writers of Nepal moving ahead with a strong feminist consciousness. Through her profound writings she has broken the traditional beliefs and superstition related to women. She believes the power of literature to educate the society through the awareness of pains and oppressions. Her publications include ‘Vapors of Fire’, ‘The Home Next-side’, ‘Laborious Gauri’, ‘A silent Rebellion’, and ‘Tisha’s Birthday’, which are mostly children’s story collection. She has contributed tremendously to various Art & Literary Organizations. She has served as patron in Art and Literature Dot Com Academy, Women’s Literary Academy, and also in ‘Janamat’ and ‘Bhanu’ Prakashan. She is also the member of Pen International Nepal. She established the Dev Kumari Thapa Children’s Literary Banita Award, Goma Memorial Award, Gunjan Talent Award, Bandipur Child Literary Award and Govinda Malla Gothale Youth Literary award. She herself has been awarded with many honors and prizes. She has travelled to India, Singapore, Thailand, USA and Germany.
