The 6th solo painting exhibition of artist & poet Sandhya Regmi presenting a total of 60 paintings on Landscape, Seascape, Portrait, Realistic & Abstract was inaugurated at Nepal Art Council (NAC) Babarmahal, Kathmandu. At the same occasion her book on poetry – ‘Sandhya ka Kavita ra Kyanvas haru’ was launched by Professor Dr. Govinda Raj Bhattarai. At the ceremony ‘Bachera lai Ahaar” (Nourishments for babybirds) (‘A Father’s Letters to his Daughter’), a book authored by Kamal Raj Regmi and edited by Sandhya, was also launched. The book is a collection of letters & diaries sent by Kamal Raj Regmi to her daughter within 7 years of her studies abroad.
Literary critic Prof. Dr. Sudha Tripathy related to Sandhya Regmi’s Father’s letters to that of India’s First Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru’s to his daughter Indira. Prof. Dr. Bhattarai opined that in the age of email and internet the tradition of writing letters has disappeared, and now there will be no more books like this.
A book interaction was also held on the book ‘Aama ka awismaraneeya ateet haru ra ma’, an essay type of memoir authored by Sandhya Regmi. This book is about those mothers who are always in the shade, interwoven in different socio-political and cultural context.
The Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Art Mr. Kiran Manandhar inaugurated Regmi’s Collection of 60 paintings describing her work beautifully linked with the philosophy and experience of life in the form of marvelous paintings. Also present at the occasion were academician from Nepal Academy – poet Boond Rana, Thakur Prasad Mainali, Sulochana Manandhar Dhital, Mahadev Awasthi, lyricist and poet Kali Prasad Risal, the academicians of Nepal Academy of Fine Art amidst the gathering of art & literature lovers from across the valley.
